The horn in your vehicle is what helps you to communicate with pedestrians and fellow commuters.
Therefore, you need your horn to work properly for your safety and others.
First, you need these three tools to be able to check your horn system yourself.
1. In-line fuse holder.
2. 16 gauge wire.
3. 2 clamps.
You can use a simple fused jumper to try and pinpoint the issue.
With the three tools suggested you can do-it-yourself by creating a fused jumper.
Connect one clamp to the terminal on the horn and quickly touch the other end to the positive battery.
There are various causes to why your horn could stop working, from its exposure to rain and fluids, to a bad horn switch.
You can locate the horns fuse within your vehicle's owner manual. Once found and the fuse is in good condition, use your homemade fused jumper.
If the fuse is blown, then you will need a new horn.
However, if you hear clicking sounds when you try and honk your horn, you should clean the horns ground connection and try honking again.
DIY projects are not for everyone and if you are not comfortable with "doing-it-yourself" when it comes to your vehicle, our Service Department would be happy to help.
Do not drive with a broken horn. It usually is a quick fix and you can have your vehicle and working horn back in no time!
